What is YABA?

YABA (originally known as yabberchat.com) is a chat based social community. We first came online at the end of 1997 and have since grown and evolved into a premiere chat community with so much more to offer than its chat based beginnings. Our aim is to provide a place where anyone can come for time-out, a good chat or to meet someone new. The word "Yaba" is an Australian slang term for idol chat, the word comes from Wuywurung (The Aboriginal language of southeast Australia) yaba, meaning "to talk".

Who made YABA?

YABA was built by hard work put in by so many people over the years. Some people providing design or content, others providing their time by monitoring the rooms and passing out the word about the great free service we provide. Special thanks should be given to Daniel Walton for his work on the chat software as well as some other programming work on the website over the years. Sysop's also deserve a special thanks as they have put in so much work over the years. I would like to be able to mention every past Sysop however there are so many it would be impossible to name everyone. The site is owned and run by myself, Damien under my business CROWDmedia.com

Would you like to be involved?

Yaba is a community site and is built on the hard work of many people. If you have some ideas, or would like to help out please contact us and offer. Help is always appreciated and is given credit for where possible. If you have skills in design, programming (PHP, Python, Ajax), marketing or writing content we would be glad to hear more about how you can add to our site. Otherwise the best help you can provide is by being a good active user. Adding albums, blogs and articles and passing out the word about our site is the best way to help it grow with like minded good users.

Is YABA Free?

Yes Yaba is totally free. I pay all the bills so all you have to do is enjoy the free site & it's many services at no cost. If you would like to contribute however, please feel free to purchase some of our branded merchandise from the shop. Yaba does cost a considerable amount of money and time to keep running and the more funds we have available, the more we can do to improve the site & introduce new services.

Advertising on YABA

Yaba provides advertising positions in a number of places though both Google Adwords and through Adbrite This allows us to monotise the site for the provision of new features and services to its users.
